29 Clustering, Scalability, and Availability

Oracle Application Server provides scalability and availability to all applications, including Web services. Scalability is the ability to adapt to varying loads. With resource pooling, clustering, and load balancing, Web sites can service any number of requests.

The ideal infrastructure is always available, never out of service. Oracle Application Server supports this by greatly reducing planned and unplanned downtime and providing complete state and fault recovery. If an application or host fails, clients are able to continue their work without any loss of service.
