This figure shows the overall set up of the Oracle Application Server Active Failover Cluster high availabilty solution under normal operation. This solution consists of two nodes in the Active Failover Cluster accessing shared storage simultaneously. Both nodes are in active-active state. A load balancer device is needed in front of the cluster to forward HTTP, HTTPS, and LDAP requests from the middle tier to the Infrastructure. OracleNet requests from the middle tier are not forwarded by this load balancer. The text in the book further describes the components making up the solution.
