The following sections in this chapter describe the licensed features and access points for each of the following categories of other Enterprise Manager infrastructure management:
The Configuration Management Pack for Applications automates the time-consuming and often error-prone process of managing host software and hardware configurations and deployments for Oracle and non-Oracle software, excluding the Oracle Database. This pack provides capabilities such as search and compare across all systems, configuration monitoring, and compliance management, ensuring consistency across deployments.
You can access the Configuration Management Pack for Applications functionality through the following Enterprise Manager Cloud Control licensed links and by installing the Application Configuration Console. These components comprise the features provided by the Configuration Management Pack for Applications.
The Configuration Management Pack for Applications includes the following:
Discovery and Inventory tracking: the ability to discover your assets, and track them.
Configuration Management: track inventory, configuration drift and detailed configuration search.
Compliance Management: reporting and management of industry and regulatory compliance standards.
The following features and functions can be use with an existing Configuration Management Pack for Applications License:

This pack improves the availability and performance of Java applications with low overhead deployed on Non-Oracle Middleware (such as, IBM WebSphere Application Server, JBoss Application Server, and Apache Tomcat), as well as providing in-depth diagnostics.
The Management Pack for Non-Oracle Middleware includes the following components:
Enterprise Manager system monitoring functionality for IBM WebSphere Application Servers, Microsoft Internet Information Services, Microsoft BizTalk Server, JBoss Application Servers, and Apache Tomcat.
Application Dependency and Performance, which can model Java Enterprise Edition applications based on the metadata present and gather metrics on standard Java Enterprise Edition components. The high-level metrics are organized based on their URI mappings, and the lower-level metrics are organized based on their method-level call graph.
Business Transaction Management features only for Java EE, .NET, TIBCO, and web service components running in Microsoft .NET environments (BizTalk, ASP.NET, WCF), WebSphere, JBoss, DataPower, BusinessWorks, or Tomcat. Business Transaction Management is separately installed from Cloud Control.
JVM Diagnostics, which is applicable for Application Servers and standalone Java applications running on supported JVMs. This diagnoses the root cause of Java application performance problems in Java applications with very low performance overhead. See the following My Oracle Support site for the latest information about supporting JVMs and platforms:
https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=1265738.1&blackframe=1
The Management Pack for Non-Oracle Middleware includes the following features:
Feature | Description |
---|---|
Application dependency and performance monitoring | Automatically model and discover management applications displaying multiple views of the application, including the topology, function/flow, and architectural views. |
Blackouts | Suspend monitoring on targets to support scheduled maintenance periods. |
Business transaction monitoring | Discover, record, and correlate transactions as they flow across components that may span multiple JVMs, containers, and platforms. |
Management Connectors | Helpdesk (ticketing) connectors open helpdesk tickets for incidents raised in Enterprise Manager. Event connectors share event information with other management systems. |
Memory leak detection and analysis | Provide memory leak analysis in production environments. |
Metric and Alert/Event History | View metric and alert/event history and its associated details. |
Metric Extensions | Create new metrics to monitor conditions specific to customer environments. |
Monitoring Templates and Template Collections | Monitoring Templates encapsulate target monitoring settings and can later be applied against many targets. Template Collections (with administration groups) automate the deployment of management settings on targets as they join the group. |
Notifications | Define and use different notification methods including e-mail, running custom OS scripts, PL/SQL procedures and SNMP traps; repeat notifications, use of notification-related actions in incident rule sets, administrator notification schedules. |
Performance monitoring | Provide real-time and historical performance monitoring. |
Real-time monitoring of JVM | Provide a summary view of resource bottlenecks affecting performance, such as the database, I/O, CPU, and locks. |
Trace in-flight transactions | View request performance problems in real time. Analyze time spent in each resource bottleneck (extend to each Java method). |
