\nKDE e.V. announces it received a $300,000 USD donation from the Handshake
\nFoundation<\/a>. According to the KDE
\nblog post<\/a>, it plans to use $100,000 USD of the donation specifically toward development
\nof the Calligra office suite. Also, KDE celebrated its 22nd anniversary yesterday\u2014Happy Birthday KDE!\n<\/p>\n

\nUBports
\nannounces<\/a> Ubuntu Touch OTA-5 is out. This
\nover the air update of version 16.04 includes a more stable experience and new features, such as the
\nMorph QtWeb Engine browser, Qt automatic scaling, Kirigami 2 and community
\nart used for wallpapers, notification tones and ringtones.\n<\/p>\n

\nGeoclue
\n2.5 is now available<\/a>, and coder Zeeshan Ali is asking for help. Geoclue uses
\nthe Mozilla Location Service (MLS), which was launched in 2013 in connection with its
\nFirefox OS project that has since been abandoned. The service is still
\nrunning, and users can contribute data, but it isn’t being maintained or
\ndeveloped any longer. Zeeshan
\nAli writes<\/a>, “If your company relies on MLS
\n(directly or through Geoclue) and you’d want to secure the future of Open
\nSource geolocation, please do get in touch and we can discuss how we could
\npossibly achieve that.”\n<\/p>\n

\nRed Hat developer Ivan Chavero yesterday submitted a new patch<\/a>
\nfor the Linux Code of Conduct. Phoronix
\nreports<\/a> that the proposal “drops the
\nmention of ‘a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age,
\nbody-size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and
\nexpression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status,
\nnationality,personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and
\norientation.’ In place Ivan proposes, ‘our community an effective and
\nenriching experience to any sentient being in the Universe.'”\n<\/p>\n

\nThe Internet Freedom Festival\u2014”5 Years Joining Forces to Fight
\nCensorship and Surveillance”\u2014is being held in Valencia, Spain, April
\n1\u20135, 2019. The call for proposals is open until November 9, 2018. See
