Like you do for other backup applications. The interface is pretty simple and provides a good design which makes the whole process user friendly and much easier.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>pybackpack<\/strong>\u00a0tool uses back-end as\u00a0<strong>rdiff-backup<\/strong>\u00a0program for backups. The benefit of using\u00a0<strong>rdiff-backup<\/strong>\u00a0is, it do full backup at first time and later backups it takes only updated files. This is very crucial in terms of saving disk space and network bandwidth.<\/p>\n<h3>Installing Pybackpack Backup Manager<\/h3>\n<p>Open the terminal by hitting \u201c<strong>Ctr + Alt + t<\/strong>\u201d and run the following command to install\u00a0<strong>Pybackpack<\/strong>\u00a0backup manager tool under\u00a0<strong>Ubuntu 12.10\/12.04\/11.10<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Linux Mint 14\/13\/12<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo apt-get install pybackpack<\/pre>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve installed it, launch it from the Desktop Dash or use the following command.<\/p>\n<pre>$ pybackpack<\/pre>\n<h3>Backup \/home directory to CD or DVD<\/h3>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve start you will see Home tab with \u201c<strong>Go<\/strong>\u201d option, if you click on \u201c<strong>Go<\/strong>\u201d button, it will backup your entire\u00a0<strong>\/home<\/strong>\u00a0directory including your\u00a0<strong>personal settings<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>emails<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>documents<\/strong>\u00a0and other important files and burn automatically them to a\u00a0<strong>CD or DVD<\/strong>\u00a0as a\u00a0<strong>iso<\/strong>\u00a0image file.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1963\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tecmint.com\/pybackpack-python-backpack-manager-tool-for-ubuntu-and-linux-mint\/pybackpack\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1963\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1963\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tecmint.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Pybackpack.jpeg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tecmint.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Pybackpack.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.tecmint.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Pybackpack-300x225.jpeg 300w\" alt=\"backup files to cd\/dvd\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1963\" data-lazy-loaded=\"true\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-1963\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pybackpack Backup Files to CD\/DVD<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Backup \/home directory on Local File System<\/h3>\n<p>Instead of taking full backup, you can customize your backup by choosing more advanced options by specifying what folders and files you want to include or exclude in your backup. Enter the default destination directory where the actual backup will be stored. I have included the following files for backup. So, next time you run the same backup set, it will only take backup of latest and changed files. It is very effective in terms of saving system disk space and bandwidth.<\/p>\n<h3>Backup \/home directory to Remote System<\/h3>\n<p>Instead of taking backups on\u00a0<strong>CD\/DVD<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Local system<\/strong>, you can also take backup and keep them on remote server directly. For example In my case it would be \u201c<strong>\/home\/tecmint\/restored_files\/Tecmint Home Backup<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n<h3>Restore \/home directory from Remote System<\/h3>\n<p>Go to \u201c<strong>Restore<\/strong>\u201d tab and select the \u201c<strong>Remote (SSH)<\/strong>\u201d and enter remote host details like username and hostname\/ip address.
