For all those people who like to use Twitter in console\/terminal rather than Graphical User Interface can now access their twitter account right from the Linux Console. Yes you heard it right. You can now access your Twitter account using a Linux Command-line Twitter Client called\u00a0Rainbow Stream<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What is Rainbow Stream<\/h4>\n

Rainbow Stream<\/strong>\u00a0is a free and open source Twitter-client for Linux command-line, released under MIT License. It is capable of showing Realtime tweetstream, compose a tweet, search, favorite,\u2026..etc. Rainbow Stream gives a real-fun right into your Linux terminal. It is also capable of showing twitter images directly on terminal.<\/p>\n

It is written in Python and built on top of\u00a0Twitter API<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Python Twitter Tool<\/strong>. To run this application in your console you must have installed\u00a0python<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0pip<\/strong>\u00a0version\u00a02.7.x<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a03.x<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Installation of Rainbow Stream Twitter Client in Linux<\/h3>\n

    In most of the today\u2019s Linux distribution, python should already be installed on your system. You may check the version of Python installed as:<\/p>\n

    $ python --version\r\n<\/pre>\n

    Next, install python-pip package using following commands as per your Linux distributions.<\/p>\n
    # apt-get install python-pip \t[on Debian<\/strong> alike systems]\r\n# yum install python-pip \t[on CentOS<\/strong> alike systems]\r\n<\/pre>\n
    Note<\/strong>: Use \u2018dnf<\/a>\u2018 in place of\u00a0yum<\/strong>, if you are on\u00a0Fedora 22<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
    Check version of installed pip.<\/p>\n
    $ pip --version\r\n\r\npip 1.5.4 from \/usr\/lib\/python2.7\/dist-packages (python 2.7)\r\n<\/pre>\n
    Now its time to install rainbow stream twitter client.<\/p>\n

    Rainbow Stream Twitter Client Usage<\/h3>\n
    1.<\/strong>\u00a0First you need to connect and authorize application on twitter site using your twitter account.<\/p>\n
    Note<\/strong>: You must have a twitter account, if you don\u2019t create one.<\/p>\n
    2.<\/strong>\u00a0Now type\u00a0'rainbowstream'<\/code>\u00a0in your Linux terminal, as user.<\/p>\n
    $ rainbowstream\r\n<\/pre>\n
    It will open a tab in your default HTTP web browser, login and you will get a pin. If you have already logged into your account the page should be showing\u00a0PIN<\/strong>. If you have configured more than one Twitter account in your HTTP web browser, consider trying logging out of other account and login to the account you want to connect.<\/p>\n
