FireSSH<\/strong>\u00a0is an open source cross platform browser based\u00a0SSH<\/strong>\u00a0terminal client extension for\u00a0Firefox<\/strong>, developed by\u00a0Mime \u010cuvalo<\/strong>\u00a0using\u00a0JavaScript<\/strong>\u00a0for handling accessible and reliable remote\u00a0SSH<\/strong>\u00a0sessions right from the browser window and acts as a much powerful\u00a0SSH<\/strong>\u00a0client.<\/p>\n

This small lightweight add-on enables you to easily create new accounts and make new connections to the systems. You don\u2019t need to install third party tools like\u00a0Putty<\/strong>\u00a0or other\u00a0SSH<\/strong>\u00a0client on your machine, all you need is to have a web browser in your place to access your remote machines from the browser wherever you go or on the go.<\/p>\n

Installation of FireSSH<\/h3>\n

Firstly, you must have a\u00a0Firefox<\/strong>\u00a0browser installed on your system.\u00a0FireSSH<\/strong>\u00a0is not a standalone program, but created as an extension to Firefox browser. To install\u00a0FireSSH<\/strong>, go to the following link and click on the \u201cInstall Now<\/strong>\u201d button, Once it finishes installation, make sure you restarted Firefox successfully,<\/p>\n

    How to Start FireSSH?<\/h5>\n

    FireSSH<\/strong>\u00a0extension uses\u00a0SSH<\/strong>\u00a0protocol to connect to remote host. For example if you would like to connect to host \u201c172.16.25.126<\/strong>\u201d using the user \u201ctecmint<\/strong>\u201d and password \u201cxyz<\/strong>\u201d you would type in the address bar similar to \u201cssh:\/\/172.16.25.126<\/strong>\u201d and enter details as suggested.<\/p>\n

    Finally, click on \u201cOK<\/strong>\u201d button to make the connection to your server.<\/p>\n

    Alternatively, you can go to the \u201cMenu<\/strong>\u201d \u2013> \u201cTools<\/strong>\u201d \u2013> \u201cWeb Developer<\/strong>\u201d \u2013> \u201cFireSSH<\/strong>\u201d to launch the \u201cAccount Manager<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n

    1. Account Name<\/strong>\u00a0: Enter host name of the server you want to connect to.<\/li>\n
    2. Category<\/strong>\u00a0: Some people deals with many servers and this helps them to organize their servers into categories. For example, I created category as \u201cBlogging<\/strong>\u201c, you can create any categories.<\/li>\n
    3. Host<\/strong>\u00a0: Enter the IP address of remote host.<\/li>\n
    4. Port<\/strong>\u00a0: By default, SSH runs on port \u201c22<\/strong>\u201c, but some users prefer different port for security reason. So, enter your port number here<\/li>\n
    5. Login<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Password<\/strong>\u00a0: Enter your username and password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Finally, click the \u201cConnect<\/strong>\u201d button to make the remote connection to your server. For reference follow the screen shot.<\/p>\n

      Alternatively, you can also use Firefox toolbar button to add\u00a0FireSSH<\/strong>\u00a0to your toolbar. Right click on the\u00a0toolbar<\/strong>button, then go to \u201cCustomize<\/strong>\u201d search for\u00a0FireSSH<\/strong>\u00a0icon and drag to the toolbar section,<\/p>\n

      How to uninstall FireSSH<\/h5>\n

      To uninstall, simply go to \u201cTools<\/strong>\u201d \u2013> \u201cAddons<\/strong>\u201d \u2013> \u201cFireSSH<\/strong>\u201d and then click\u00a0Uninstall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
