HPCWire notes that &#8220;conformance<br \/>\nwith the OpenChain Specification confirms that an organization follows the<br \/>\nkey requirements of a quality open source compliance program, and builds<br \/>\ntrust between organizations in the supply chain&#8221;. In addition, SUSE is the<br \/>\n&#8220;first enterprise Linux distributor to earn conformance with the OpenChain<br \/>\nProject Specification&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Pine64 is making a Linux smartphone that runs KDE Plasma. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/fossbytes.com\/pinephone-pine64-affordable-linux-smartphone-kde-plasma\">FOSSBYTES<br \/>\npost<\/a>,<br \/>\nthe devices will be called PinePhone and PineTab, and Pine64 will begin<br \/>\nsending the first PinePhone developer kits to selected devs for free in November. The<br \/>\nopen-source Linux smartphone is expected to start at around $100.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linux.com\/news\/2018\/10\/edgex-foundrys-first-dev-kit-runs-ubuntu-artik-board\">Linux Foundation has released the first developer kit for its EdgeX<br \/>\nFoundry project<\/a>, which is for &#8220;developing open source edge computing<br \/>\nmiddleware&#8221;. The kit is Ubuntu-based and is &#8220;built around an octa-core Samsung<br \/>\nArtik 710 Starter Kit teamed with a GrovePi+ I\/O board. Future kits will<br \/>\ninclude an Artik 530 kit, and eventually, a Raspberry Pi\/GrovePi+<br \/>\ncombination.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Tor Project has announced that Mozilla will match all donations to the<br \/>\nproject through the end of the year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/mozilla-will-match-all-donations-to-the-tor-project\">ZDNet<br \/>\nreports<\/a> that Mozilla matched $200,000 in donations to Tor last year.<br \/>\nThis year, Tor plans to use the funds to &#8220;increase the capacity<br \/>\nmodularization and scalability of the Tor network&#8221;; &#8220;better test for,<br \/>\nmeasure, and design solutions around internet censorship&#8221;; and &#8220;strengthen<br \/>\ndevelopment of the Tor Browser for Android&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>A new version of RaspEX Linux for Raspberry Pi has been released. This new<br \/>\nversion as based on Ubuntu 18.10 and uses the LXDE desktop. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.softpedia.com\/news\/you-can-now-run-ubuntu-18-10-with-lxde-desktop-on-your-raspberry-pi-3-computer-523414.shtml\">Softpedia<br \/>\nNews<\/a>, &#8220;RaspEX LXDE Build 181022 is powered by the Linux 4.14.76 LTS<br \/>\nkernel built for the ARMv8 architecture, which means that it supports the<br \/>\noriginal Raspberry Pi 3 Model B single-board computer, as well as the<br \/>\nlatest Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ variant.
