Storage and bandwidth for hundreds of millions<br \/>\n(if not billions) of photos is very expensive. We&#8217;ve all benefited<br \/>\nfrom Flickr&#8217;s services for so long, and I&#8217;m hopeful we will<br \/>\nfind a way forward together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/opensource.org\/node\/951\">Open Source Initiative announces a $200,000 donation<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/handshake.org\">Handshake<\/a>, &#8220;the largest single donation in organizational<br \/>\nhistory&#8221;. Patrick Masson, the OSI&#8217;s general manager, says &#8220;Handshake&#8217;s<br \/>\nfunding will allow us to extend the reach and impact of our Working<br \/>\nGroups and Incubator Projects, many which were established to confront<br \/>\nthe growing efforts to manipulate open source through &#8216;fauxpen source<br \/>\nsoftware&#8217; and &#8216;open-washing&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Intel&#8217;s Open-Source Technology Center (OTC) has adopted the Contributor<br \/>\nCovenant for all of its open-source projects. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoronix.com\/scan.php?page=news_item&amp;px=Intel-OTC-Contributor-Covenant\">Phoronix<br \/>\nreports<\/a> that it chose the Contributor Covenant because<br \/>\n&#8220;it&#8217;s well written and represented, provides a clear expression of<br \/>\nexpectations, and represents open-source best practices.&#8221; You can read<br \/>\nthe Contributor Covenant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contributor-covenant.org\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Valve&#8217;s digital card game <em>Artifact<\/em> is scheduled to be released<br \/>\nNovember 28th with Linux support. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamingonlinux.com\/articles\/valves-digital-card-game-artifact-releases-this-month-with-same-day-linux-support.12884\">Gaming<br \/>\non Linux<\/a>, the new game will also have a built-in tournament<br \/>\nfeature. See the <a href=\"http:\/\/playartifact.com\">official\u00a0<em>Artifact<\/em> site<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook recently announced it&#8217;s open-sourcing a new <a href=\"https:\/\/opensource.fb.com\/#linux\">suite of Linux<br \/>\nkernel components and related tools<\/a> &#8220;that address critical fleet<br \/>\nmanagement issues. These include resource control, resource<br \/>\nutilization, workload isolation, load balancing, measuring, monitoring,<br \/>\nand much more&#8221;.
