In connection with this partnership, Canonical<br \/>\n&#8220;has published a Snap for the Eclipse Kura project\u2014the<br \/>\npopular, open-source Java-based IoT edge framework. Having Kura available as<br \/>\na Snap\u2014the universal Linux application packaging format\u2014will<br \/>\nenable a wider availability of Linux users across multiple distributions to<br \/>\ntake advantage of the framework and ensure it is supported on more hardware.<br \/>\nSnap support will also extend on Eurotech&#8217;s commercially supported<br \/>\nversion; the Everywhere Software Framework (ESF).&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>Apple, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla all announce the end of support for TLS<br \/>\n1.0 and 1.1 standards starting in 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/chrome-edge-ie-firefox-and-safari-to-disable-tls-1-0-and-tls-1-1-in-2020\">ZDNet<br \/>\nreports<\/a>. Chrome and Firefox already support TLS 1.3, and Microsoft and<br \/>\nApple will soon follow suit.\n<\/p>\n<p>Sony announced it&#8217;s planning to use the blockchain for digital rights<br \/>\nmanagement (DRM). According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2018\/10\/15\/sony-tries-using-blockchain-tech-for-next-gen-drm\">story<br \/>\non Engadget<\/a>, the company plans to begin with the Sony Global Education<br \/>\nwritten educational materials. This blockchain system is &#8220;built on Sony&#8217;s<br \/>\npre-existing DRM tools, which keep track of the distribution of copyrighted<br \/>\nmaterials, but will have advantages that come with blockchain&#8217;s inherent<br \/>\nsecurity.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nNETWAYS Web Services launches IaaS OpenStack.<br \/>\nAccording to the press release, &#8220;the Open Source experts from &#8216;NETWAYS Web<br \/>\nServices&#8217; (NWS) add with OpenStack<br \/>\na customizable, fully managed Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas) to their<br \/>\nplatform.&#8221; Customers can choose between SSD or Ceph based packages, and in<br \/>\naddition to OpenStack, the platform offers &#8220;a diverse selection of Open<br \/>\nSource applications for various purposes&#8221;. If you&#8217;re interested, you can try NWS OpenStack 30 days for free.<br \/>\nFor more information and to get started, go <a href=\"https:\/\/nws.netways.de\/products\/openstack?locale=en\">here<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>A grey-hat hacker is breaking into MikroTik routers and patching them so<br \/>\nthey can&#8217;t be compromised by cryptojackers or other attackers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/a-mysterious-grey-hat-is-patching-peoples-outdated-mikrotik-routers\">According<br \/>\nto ZDNet<\/a>, the hacker, who goes by Alexey, is a system<br \/>\nadministrator and claims to have disinfected more then 100,000 MikroTik<br \/>\nrouters. He told ZDNet that he added firewall rules to block access to<br \/>\nthe routers from outside the local network, and then &#8220;in the comments, I wrote information about the<br \/>\nvulnerability and left the address of the @router_os Telegram channel, where<br \/>\nit was possible for them to ask questions.&#8221; Evidently, a few folks have said &#8220;thanks&#8221;, but many are outraged.\n<\/p>\n<p>Paul Allen\u2014&#8221;co-founder of Microsoft and noted technologist,<br \/>\nphilanthropist, community builder, conservationist, musician and supporter of<br \/>\nthe arts&#8221;\u2014passed away yesterday.
