According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoronix.com\/scan.php?page=news_item&amp;px=Ubuntu-18.10-Releasing-Today\">Phoronix<\/a>, the<br \/>\nbiggest change for users will be the revised default theme for the GNOME<br \/>\nShell experience, now known as &#8220;Yaru&#8221;. Ubuntu 18.10 will also have the Linux<br \/>\n4.18 kernel, &#8220;which means better hardware support, various performance<br \/>\nimprovements, and other optimizations compared to Ubuntu 18.04&#8217;s Linux 4.15&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Arm launches the IoT-focused Mbed Linux OS and also extends Pelion IoT<br \/>\nPlatform services. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linux.com\/news\/arm-launches-mbed-linux-and-extends-pelion-iot-service\">Linux.com<\/a>,<br \/>\nMbed Linux &#8220;combines the Linux kernel with tools and recipes from the<br \/>\nIntel-backed Yocto Project. The distro also integrates security and IoT<br \/>\nconnectivity code from its open source Mbed RTOS&#8221;. In addition, the Pelion<br \/>\nIoT Platform &#8220;will align<br \/>\nwith Intel&#8217;s Secure Device Onboard (SDO) provisioning technology to make<br \/>\nit easier for IoT vendors and customers to onboard both x86 and Arm-based<br \/>\ndevices using a common Pelion platform. Arm also announced Pelion related<br \/>\npartnerships with myDevices and Arduino.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>GitHub updated its platform this week, which included many developer-centric<br \/>\nchanges and security features, but the most notable change is the<br \/>\n&#8220;expansion of the Security Alerts feature, which also now supports Java and<br \/>\n.NET projects, on top of the original JavaScript, Ruby and Python&#8221;, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/github-security-alerts-now-support-java-and-net-projects\">ZDNet<br \/>\nreports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mongodb.com\/blog\/post\/mongodb-now-released-under-the-server-side-public-license\">MongoDB<br \/>\nrecently announced<\/a> it will be released under the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mongodb.com\/licensing\/server-side-public-license\">Server Side<br \/>\nPublic License<\/a>: &#8220;The SSPL clarifies the conditions for making MongoDB<br \/>\npublicly available as a service, to ensure we can continue to invest in<br \/>\nbuilding MongoDB for our users rather than in costly litigation over<br \/>\nenforcing the AGPL.
