Before you work with this release of the Java Web Services Developer Pack (Java WSDP) Registry Server, make sure that you have installed the required software, have set the required environment variables, and are on a supported operating system. You can find this information in the Java WSDP home page and Release Notes and the Java WSDP Registry Server home page.

This release includes

• The Java WSDP Registry Server 1.0 Early Access release
• The Xindice database, the repository for registry data
• A tool named Indri that allows you to create and inspect database data using a graphical user interface

You can also use the Registry Browser and sample programs provided by the Java API for XML Registries (JAXR) to create and query registry data.

The release contents are arranged in the following structure within the Java WSDP installation:

• This release supports only the following messages:
  • <save_business>
  • <find_business>
  • <get_businessDetail>
  • <delete_business>
• The <save_business> message does not support the <uploadRegister> argument.
• The <find_business> message does not support the <findQualifiers> argument.
• If you use the JAXR Registry Browser to create and save organizations and then to query the registry, searching is case-sensitive.
• find_business queries that use the percent (%) sign to indicate that the string can occur anywhere in the business name do not work. (This is a UDDI version 2 feature.) For example, if you specify the string "%Coffee%" as an argument to the JAXR findOrganizations method, no organizations are found.
• Performance optimizations such as connection pooling and indexing have not been done for this release.

At this release, the Java WSDP Registry Server has the following known bugs:

• If a blank username or password is supplied to a JAXR client program or to the JAXR Registry Browser, an exception is generated. The Registry Server does not require authentication, but a string must be specified in each field.
• If you use the JAXR Registry Browser to inspect an organization that you submitted in the same browser session, any services or service bindings you provided do not appear in the Show Services dialog box. If you exit the browser and restart it, the services and service bindings appear.
